Kid-Friendly QIFF 2017
The eighth annual Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) kicked off last week serving up a host of delicious food and fun activities for the whole family. Located in Hotel Park adjacent to the Sheraton Grand Doha, the festival has lots to offer families, including live performances, cultural shows, kid-friendly movies and table football (foosball).
There’s also a designated children’s zone, a QIFF library stocked with cookbooks and literature, and, of course, the excellent Hotel Park, which features slides, climbing frames, sand pits and swings. The park’s water fountains are sure to be a hit, so bring a spare change of clothes and towel just in case. You can read our full review of Hotel Park here. The children's zone is located next to the playground and has a Café Céramique stand, a fresh vegetable stand with a small pen of sheep, and several food stalls of sweet treats.
Kids are also sure to love the colourful bean bags scattered across the grassy hill in front of the festival—perfect for relaxing, dining and taking in the views while the kids run (or roll) down the gentle slopes. There’s also daily screenings of Siraj, Qatar Foundation’s new 3D animation TV series, plus screenings of Jeem TV’s Baraem show on the large main screen.
With more than 100 vendors at the festival serving everything from curries and sushi to pancakes and shawarma, you’re spoilt for choice. Five-star hotels make their regular appearance as do popular fast food chains such as California Tortilla and Baskins Robbins. Smaller food trucks and trolleys are dotted throughout the festival serving up popular choices such as ice cream and desserts. For healthy food lovers, Evergreen Organics and fresh juice favourite Raw ME feature in the Healthy Zone section.
